Because God said so.
Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Really hard to do, but clearly not a negotiable with God. |

A lot. Here's a sampling:
Leviticus 19:16 “‘Do not go about spreading slander among your people. “‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the LORD. Psalm 41:6 When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it around Psalm 59:10 my God on whom I can rely. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me Proverbs 10:18 Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool. Proverbs 30:10 “Do not slander a servant to their master, or they will curse you, and you will pay for it. Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. Wow. God places slander against another in the same category as murder, adultery, and theft. God considers bearing false witness against your neightbor so terrible a sin that He made one of the 10 Commandments. Help me to learn to pray, Lord, for those who slander me. For those who publish lies and deceptions for their own personal glory and greed. Mimi Rothschild CEO, Learning By Grace, Inc. www.LearningByGrace.org |

In May, 2010,Learning By Grace, Inc., Mimi Rothschild and Howard Mandel filed a lawsuit against Helen Hegener, Home Education Magazine, Heather Idoni, Beloved Books and Mark Hegener.
According to court documents, Hegener and Idoni have been charged with defamation, conspiracy to restrain trade, violations of the Sherman Anti Trust Act, unfair competition, tortious interference with a business, and others. Mimi Rothschild is the co-founder and CEO of Learning By Grace. Rothschild said "After years of cyber harassment by Hegener and years of praying for her, we finally brought the lawsuit because she was hurting so many innocent people with her deceptive articles." The complaint against Helen Hegener and Heather Idoni state that the two have conspired to hurt Learning By Grace, Inc. Other people who have been involved in the conspiracy to put Learning By Grace out of business may be added in the near future. Email communications going back to 2002 between Hegener and a number of homeschooling webmasters show a clear conspiracy to discredit Rothschild and bring severe harm to her. The tool the conspirators used to restrain LBG's trade seems to be posting anonymous and venomous allegations that Rothschild "defrauds unsuspecting homeschoolers". Neither Hegener nor Idoni have been able to produce one single "scam victim".Rothschild is the co-founder and CEO of Learning By Grace. In Fact, Learning By Grace is proud to be celebrating 10 years of service to the homeschooling community. Learning By Grace is considered by many to be the leader in Christian online homeschooling. Learning By Grace currently manages 5 online homeschooling Academies. It offers over 150 Christian online full year courses with and without teacher support. "I am very sad it came to this, but we could no longer stand by and allow Ms. Hegener & Ms. Idoni to defame us and deceive homeschoolers.", said Rothschild. |

Dear Mrs. Rothschild,
I enrolled my children in your free homeschool in March of 2008. I felt very lucky to find a site that not only had all the subjects needed but was so cost effective. I continued to use in 2009 and 2010, but have recently been concerned with some of the information on the web regarding the schools that you are a affaliated with. Let me first say that I have been satisfied with the curriculum, mostly and just want to enroll my children hassle-free. I have been periodically checking the website to see when classes would be available for enrollment. I did finally see on October 31 that I could enroll my children in classes. I have 4 children and after re-enrolling the 1st one, tried to log into the students sight, but received a message that the class had not started yet. The next day I tried to email member services, but to no avail, my emails were returned as undeliverable. This has always happened in the past, also. I did receive an email stating that my child had been enrolled, but it was the wrong child and again I tried to email, but my email was returned as undeliverable. I do not want to complain, I just want to know when the subject matter will be available for the 2010-2011 school year. I have went through this for a couple of years now and both years I get a little anxious around this time wondering if my children will be able to access their curriculums. There is never a date posted, I just have to keep checking. I am a very busy person as I am sure you are also. I would appreciate a valid email address and phone number where I can speak to a real person. Thank you, RipleyLee |

Biography of Mimi Rothschild, Learning By Grace Online Homeschooling Programs Co-Founder
Mimi Rothschild is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Learning By Grace, a leading provider of Christian online homeschooling programs. Since 2001, under Rothschild's leadership, Learning By Grace has been blessed to serve families from all over the world with its innovative and quality Christian online homeschooling curricula. Throughout her thirty year long professional history, Rothschild has experience in education, technology, manufacturing and retail. One thread ties her experiences together and that is her passion for children. At the age of ten, Mimi Rothschild launched her lifelong career in children's rights advocacy by collecting money door to door for starving Biafran children. Although merely a child herself, inaction was not in Mimi Rothschild's vocabulary. Shortly thereafter, Rothschild became the youngest person to lead the one of the first American Freedom From Hunger Foundation's Walk on Hunger in 1970. Upon graduating from college in 1979, Mimi Rothschild married the love of her life, Howard Mandel, and shortly thereafter together they launched the Rothschild Doll Company. One of the missions of the doll company was to provide an economic base to single mothers while simultaneously providing children with beautiful playthings. Countless Jamaican and Haitian single women were provided with desperately needed employment opportunities through the Rothschild Doll Company.

I get many letters from folks asking me how to help them navigate the jungle of choices available so that you can find the ones that will best meet your family’s needs. Our guiding principle as we examine online learning is finding solutions that meet both the homeschooling parents and their children’s needs. What is your need? More time, more help, more peace? Or do you need solutions that engage your children more, that address their style of learning better? Or do you just not feel qualified in all of the subjects? Many parents have communicated to me over the years that they are committed to homeschooling their children but do not feel they can teach some subjects. Some students , especially as they enter their teens, excel when they have an outside adult to be accountable to. For those families, an online program that offers teachers is an ideal way to meet their need. Some student’s learning style flourishes with a multimedia curriculum filled with videos and games. Online courses that have videos, games and simulations will help ensure that this student stays engaged. Some of us parents are fully occupied (and yes, often overwhelmed and even well on our way to full fledge burn out) with other children or our work outside the home. An online program that offers a private school may meet this family’s need. Identifying our needs as a family, as a homeschooling parent and those of our individual children will be a theme we will return to again and again throughout this blog because homeschooling is about tailoring our programs to meet our needs, rather than accommodating someone else’s.
